Sports Real Madrid Emerge UCL Champion For The 11th Time

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the all important spot-kick as Real Madrid overcame fierce rivals Atletico Madrid to claim their 11th Champions League crown 5-3 penalties after extra-time.



The Portuguese stepped up to fire the winning penalty past Jan Oblak after Juanfran crucially struck the post for Atletico Madrid at the San Siro.

Sergio Ramos gave Real the lead after 15 minutes as he stabbed the ball beyond Oblak from inside the six-yard box, though the goal should have been chalked off for offside.



Antoine Griezmann missed a penalty minutes after the interval but Atletico clawed their way back into the match after substitute Yannick Carrasco smashed home Juanfran's cross, sending the tie into extra time.

The game which ended in a penalty shoot out, had Christiano Ronaldo hit the net after a miss from Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid's coach, Zinedine Zidane is the seventh man to win the European Cup as a player and a manager.
